Get a load of this guy…

Recently, you might have seen a load of these videos on your YouTube feed.

Everyone and their grandma has been jumping onto this ‘authentic’ video trend, and small YouTube channels have blew up and gone viral leveraging this.

You might have even considered to yourself: ‘Should I make videos like this?’

And the answer is yes

Or no

You see it depends. Let me explain why.

The reason why these videos are performing so well in the first place comes down to supply and demand.

We’re in an era of MrBeastification on YouTube right now.

MrBeastification - Where everyone is making Mr Beast inspired YouTube content. Often relates to the hyper optimized thumbnail and retention editing

This has resulted in a very low supply of authentic content.

When there is scarcity, that often also results in a want for it (demand).

So now we have a situation where there is very low supply of a particular type of content on YouTube, but there is very high demand as a lot of people are wanting it due to it’s scarcity.

This is why the people who HAVE provided the supply to the demand (like Charlie Morgan in the images above) have reaped the rewards.

So does this mean make these videos?

Not necessarily.

The point I’m trying to get across is that you need to understand what does your target audience actually want (demand) that they’re not being provided with (supply).

Often these two things are the same.

So when you identify what these things are, it becomes extremely easy to attract your target audience.

This channel here has taken advantage of this same concept

I know Matthew and consult him on growing his YouTube channel, and although his initial blow up may have been unintentional, it achieved exactly what I outlined above.

I’ll describe what he did and why it was successful so that it’s actionable to you:

  • He is in the niche of business and helping scale your business

  • Everyone else in this niche right now has optimized thumbnails, professional video editing, etc

  • But everyone else in the niche was trying to make it an optimized YouTube video, which meant sacrificing value to satisfy the typical YouTube viewer who doesn’t have a great attention span

  • His thumbnails looked like this

  • His videos looked like this

  • This completely opposed what everyone else was doing, and therefore he stood out completely from everyone else in his market

  • In a sea of thumbnails on the YouTube homepage, his would be the only one that would stand out. People love novelty, and novelty sparks curiosity, so they click

  • The video itself is WILDLY valuable. Matt did not care about making optimizations for YouTube. He prioritised providing value which was what there was a lack of in his niche. You can clearly see this if you look at the comments on his videos

That is what helped his channel blow up like this

Now it has to be taken into consideration that Matt is someone with remarkable achievements and experience to share, but you should too in your specific niche and industry.

The overall lesson here is to have some form of novelty in your niche.

Oppose what the majority are doing, and find evidence and data that supports that your target audience want that opposition.

When they zig

You zag.

(I hate that phrase)

The Best {Mechanism} Strategy in 2024

This video format has proven to work time and time again recently.

The channel in the image above went from 60 subs to over 1,000 from this video ALONE.

I also know he generated new business and revenue growth from that video since he is my client and I see behind the scenes.

Many channels have blown up and gone viral from using this format, but more importantly, they’ve generated business from it.

Substitute in your mechanism.
